Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe is an actor and producer born in New Zealand. But he hasn’t spent too much time there, as his family moved to Australia when he was a child. His grandfather on the maternal side was a cinematographer, and that probably had something to do with his love of acting he’ll develop. He started out very humble, as a kid on a local Australian TV show. Today, he’s one of the best actors in the business, and is very dedicated to his roles, losing and gaining weight to portray certain people. Russell Crowe won an Oscar in 2001 for his role as Maximus in the movie Gladiator.

His career started with the movie Romper Stomper (1992) in Australia, and he started expanding to the American market with The Sum of Us (1994). But the actress Sharon Stone really wanted him for the role in The Quick and the Dead (1995), so she delayed filming until he was available to shoot. That solidified Russell Crowe in the American film business and opened the door for many new opportunities.

He almost won an Oscar the next year for the role in A Beautiful Mind (2001) where he was portraying a brilliant mathematician.
