Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman is certainly one of the most respected actors today and is still active despite being born on June 1, 1937. No one in his family was an actor, his mother a teacher and his dad a barber. In fact, Morgan Freeman’s acting started completely by accident, when he pulled a chair from under one girl in his junior high. His ”punishment” was to perform in a school play, that’s where it all started. He’s the winner of one Oscar and almost 60 other awards up until now.

Besides acting, Morgan Freeman always wanted to be a fighter pilot. He even turned down a role to go to U.S. Air Force, but he spent most of the time on the ground, being a mechanic. That’s when he decided to come back into acting and starred on Bradway in Hello Dolly! He went through a lot of struggles at the time, both professionally and privately – his marriage was in jeopardy, and he developed a drinking problem.

However, he managed to overcome all that, and in 1980 came back by starring in Brubaker alongside Robert Redford. Since there were no sequels, he starred in TV series Another World, and later went to act in more movies. But what made him really famous – his narrating skills and a pleasant, deep mellow voice. Some say it’s the best voice in the world, which really helped him. The 1990s were the best years for Morgan Freeman, as he starred in The Power of One, Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood, and later in The Shawshank Redemption and Seven in 1995. Both of those brought him worldwide recognition.

Morgan Freeman is still actively acting and working on more projects, and he found a new way to relax – beekeeping keeps him calm and gives him vitality and makes him happy. Angel Has Fallen is coming out either this year or the next, and he’s playing with Gerard Butler. It’s very action-packed, and there’s assassination attempt framing involved. We wouldn’t want to reveal too much, so if that seems interesting to you, be on a lookout. Before you go, read more Morgan Freeman facts below.
